The bottom line is that LIFE is equal when it is given to a human, but humans are NOT equal to one another. Only the life we possess is. The fact of the matter is that many people if made “equal” by monetary means, would not pull their weight in society. There is a reason many people are poor in America; many people are just plain lazy! Equal money will never happen because too many people who have money and power enjoy being served by those who don’t. Now, go get my coffee. Bitch.
This is a nasty, yet typically shrill anti-equal money response we get on You Tube from anonymous cowards like this “ImaRichRichMan.” Within it lays the classic neoliberal critique against economic equality based on unprovable assumptions about human nature and the supremacy of the “Pull yourself up by the bootstrap” economic Darwinism that is a prime feature of how why everyone thinks capitalism is so great.
But is our fake-named defender of economic oppression correct in his assumptions? Allow me to break down this “argument” in terms that show the hidden workings of thought that went into its creation.
The bottom line is that LIFE is equal when it is given to a human, but humans are NOT equal to one another. Only the life we possess is.
One can only come to this conclusion by not applying equality in absolute terms, which is a problem since capitalism is practiced in absolute terms. If one does not take part within capitalism effectively, one is in danger of losing one’s life. But our critic is aware of the fact that “LIFE is equal.” Proponents of Equal Money apply this notion in absolute terms. There are reasons “why” there is such talent gaps between humans that create the seeming inequalities; environment, education, cultural and religious programming and probably the most influential of all – access to money. The neoliberal doctrine of “special individualism” is an important plank in such a platform because it discounts and denies the social economic forces that create inequality. If one fails in the system, it’s due to one’s lack of “drive” or not having an effective “skill set” or education to sell in the marketplace. These people do not want people to be equal, because they want to support their sense of specialness and placement of worth that can only exist at the cost of another. This is bullshit, and this notion is only accepted because people have been condition to believe that buying your survival through exploiting and dominating others is the only way to live.
The fact of the matter is that many people if made “equal” by monetary means, would not pull their weight in society.
This is not a “fact,” but a supposition based on an opinion about human nature. The “pull your own weight” meme has been rejected by the EM exponents because we do not see such a philosophy as beneficial to all, because of the unequal starting points people have within the system. The rich will always be well-connected and given advantage over everyone else. A child laborer working in a factory in China or India will never achieve the economical means to support herself compared to a child living in a mansion in Malibu. The “pulling of one’s weight” in society is not a valid point against EM because people do not pull their weight equally because such a philosophy exists only to legitimate a corrupt, anti-humanist system. As the monarchy and the divine right of kings had been rejected for a more equitable social contract, EM will replace this system of institutionalized separation and scarcity for a system that recognizes and brings to fruition a living society where all can take part and benefit to the best of one’s ability if they choose to. The scheme of buying survival from another will be dropped in favor of a world that welcomes beings into existence with guaranteed rights that promote equality-based human values and reject domination of one against another.
There is a reason many people are poor in America; many people are just plain lazy!
This is a restatement of the previous neoliberal sentiment based on opinions and assumptions that seek to justify inequality by blaming the victims.
Equal money will never happen because too many people who have money and power enjoy being served by those who don’t.
We shall see. The problem for the elite is that they depend on the dupes like our faked-named genius to carry their water and keep the current system going. Once enough people have their delusions about the greatness of capitalism dashed after they lose everything (and that we are one day closer to that threshold, no matter what the Wall Street Journal says), they will be looking for alternatives. And the EM will be right out in front among them. It will make sense and it will be instituted through democratic principles, something the elites will not be able to control as they do now, for it is only the acceptance of the current by the people who keeps them in power.
And now we come to the end:
Now, go get my coffee. Bitch.
How elegant. With this sneering attempt at superiority we come to the conclusion which only reveals the contempt and fear within our genius as he contemplates a world where people do not have to fight to “pull themselves up by their bootstraps” to survive. Such a world where class difference and economic inequality no longer exist must be a Hell for such a being. He couldn’t even consider getting his own cup of coffee. He would rather have someone he could boss around to get it for him because it verifies his own specialness and superiority. How horrible if he had to “pull himself up by the bootstraps and get his own damn coffee. What a miserable, inconsequential dribble of waste this person must be to parade such a disgusting vision to others behind a wall of anonymity. Such malicious cowardice must always be opposed and refuted.
